Massage Therapy
Therapeutic Massage is the hands-on manipulation of the soft tissues of the body including muscles and connective tissue. Massage Therapy treatment aims to develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical functioning, relieve or prevent physical dysfunction and pain, as well as enhance the well being of the client. Depending on the needs of each client, treatment sessions can range from light and soothing, to deep tissue work.
Massage Therapy may effectively treat many conditions, including: headache, migraine, neck and back pain, injuries (sprain/strain, muscle spasm, tendinitis, etc), arthritis pain, whiplash and accident-related injuries, pregnancy-related discomfort, poor circulation, high blood pressure, and of course, stress-related issues.
Reflexology
Specific points around the feet and ankles relate to every part, organ and gland in the entire body. Manipulating these points enables each of the body’s systems to return to a state of balance, and re-establishes physical and spiritual equilibrium. Blocked energies are released, circulation improved, and an overall sense of well-being can be achieved. Very effective for assisting the body to release stored toxins, a Reflexology session is very grounding and many people reach a very deep state of relaxation: that lovely space between awake and asleep, when your brain gets out of the way, and your body can get the healing it needs.
A reflexology session is performed fully-clothed, lying on a treatment table, with pillows for your comfort, and a blanket if you wish. A session is approx 45 minutes.
Reiki
Japanese for “Universal Life Energy”, Reiki is a non-invasive, hands-on method of working with the body’s energy centres (Chakras) for healing the body, mind and spirit. A peaceful and comforting form of treatment which supports the body’s natural ability to heal itself, Reiki promotes a state of relaxation, re-establishing physical and spiritual equilibrium.
Reiki sessions at our Didsbury clinic are carried out fully clothed, lying on a treatment table, with pillows and a blanket if you wish. The practitioner lightly places her hands, always with your permission, on areas of your body which need healing, and we will encourage the opening of energy blockages to allow improved flow of Life Force Energy through your body. Reiki can be a very intuitive treatment, and many people experience warmth, tingling, or maybe see colours or images in their mind’s eye. Some even receive sudden clarity on an issue that may have been bothering them for a while, or information regarding a new life path or direction.
